The past year was one tough and historic year as the pandemic took over the world.
One of the most important steps you can take to protect yourself and others from COVID-19 is to be vaccinated. As COVID-19 poses a greater risk of severe sickness for older persons, it is very important to get vaccinated to protect many from serious illness or death caused by the coronavirus.

The COVID-19 vaccinations that have been authorized, notably Johnson & Johnson’s one-shot vaccine, offer the best protection against the virus.

It’s crucial to know that getting vaccinated against COVID-19 does not offer 100% protection, although, the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines are up to 95% effective at preventing severe diseases and reducing symptoms. Seniors are still likely to get sick, but the risk is greatly reduced. When out in public, masks should still be worn, especially if the ventilation is poor. In addition, in these cases, social distance guidelines should be observed.

Benefits of Taking The Covid-19 Vaccine as Seniors

  1. If your family or acquaintances have also been vaccinated, you can visit with them without wearing masks.
  2. You are no longer required to be quarantined or tested before resuming your travels.

Being able to spend time with and hug loved ones can provide a much needed mental health boost for many seniors who have been alone for months. So taking the Vaccine can provide you the confidence to hangout with loved ones after a long time of being lockdown. Various activities are resuming at certain senior centers and other groups. You may go back to enjoying reading clubs, art courses, exercise groups, and other social activities, even if there are only a few spaces available. This is to say getting vaccinated is really important if we do want to get back to ‘normal’ or should I say the ‘New normal’.
