(NEMT) is a transportation service provided for those who need transport to and from certain medical appointments. For example, you might need this transport service if you wanted to bring your mom from her nursing home to her scheduled dialysis in a clinic.

Is this service covered by private insurance?
By law, all insurance carriers must pay for emergency ambulance services, however, not all cover non-emergency transportation. Most private insurance plans will cover non-emergency ambulance transportation if the benefit exists in the subscriber’s plan.
Is this service covered by Medicare?
“In some cases, you may be able to get limited, medically necessary non-emergency medical transportation if all of these apply:”
- Such transportation is needed to obtain treatment or diagnose your health condition.
- The use of any other transportation method could endanger your health.
- You have a written order from your doctor stating that ambulance transportation is necessary due to your medical condition.
Should you tip a medical transport driver?
The people who work in non emergency transportation are certified and trained professionals who appreciate the importance of the service they provide. Just as you‘re not required to tip your physician or your dentist, there’s no rule that says you must tip your emergency medical transportation driver
Who can receive NEMT services?
Medicaid beneficiaries without access to transportation to their medical appointments are eligible for NEMT. Most states that have expanded Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act (ACA) have chosen to offer NEMT to their Medicaid expansion population as well. States work within the broad federal requirements to establish the specifics of their own NEMT programs.
What do measures are taken to ensure vehicles are safe?
On a regular basis, we randomly select one of our driving personnel and inspect their vehicle to make sure it meets our strict safety guidelines. Following our Vehicle Management Plan, we ensure vehicles are properly maintained in order to meet local, state, and federal requirements.
Are your drivers Multilingual?
Yes. In addition to English, our driving personnel /support team speaks Spanish, French, and Creole.
