The holiday season has arrived, bringing with it gatherings, festivities, and travel. The colder weather, on the other hand, welcomes the start of flu season, colds, and plenty of other viruses. As the seasons change, it’s also time to start decorating and getting into the holiday spirit, which can bring with it its own set of safety concerns.
As you prepare to deck the halls and spread cheer, we’ve compiled a list of actions you can take to get ready for the holiday season.
- Get Tested Before Attending Gatherings
Even if you’ve been vaccinated, getting tested is a wise precaution to take if you’re feeling a little under the weather. Keeping yourself and your loved ones safe is a common theme at this time of year.
It never hurts to be tested for Covid-19, and it’s free! Knowing you’re healthy and haven’t spread anything to your family, friends, or community is a good way to set the celebrations.
2. Make sure to update your Vaccinations
Even though we’re getting ready to resume socializing, we shouldn’t forget about the risks of contracting a virus!
Before you go, make sure you’re up to date on your vaccinations. Once a year, you should get a flu shot. Being completely immunized against the Coronavirus could save you a lot of pain and stress this holiday season.
3. Maintain social distancing and masking.
Indoors, face masks and social distancing should still be practiced. Remind your guests to bring a mask, and make sure you and your loved ones have one as well.
Try to keep the number of people inside to a minimum, especially when cooking. If you’re having a meal with others, delegate food preparation to one person and have that person serve the entire group rather than individuals. If at all feasible, have meals served outside.
Everyone’s objective during the holidays is to stay safe and healthy. If you or a loved one requires assistance, please contact us to schedule a consultation so that we can design the appropriate care package for you.
